A factory reset does not lock the phone. Just returns it to the way it was when you first turned it on.
Don't forget to back up data and best to remove your SD card if you have one, before you reset.

Is there a syatem password so the buyer can unlock it?
Welcome to the forums! Depending on your software, you need to remove your Google account and if you have a Samsung and a Samsung account, remove it, before resetting.

If you don't remove your accounts, the anti-theft will require you log into the account when the phone is set up again.

A factory reset will remove all of your accounts. Whether you wish to use the phone again, or anyone else, all these accounts will need to be set up again.
And the anti-theft will be activated. If the phone has anti-theft, the accounts have to be removed FIRST before resetting or the phone will require the account to log in when setting up the phone again.

You can wipe the phone via the menu and it should be okay. If you do it any other way you will have to re-enter your Google account to de-activate the anti-theft feature within Android. After that it will allow the phone to enter setup mode (such as when you get a brand new phone).
