How do I export pictures to my laptop?

I am trying to export pictures from my Samsung Galaxy s6 to my laptop, using my usb cable. When I bring up Picasa the Import box, search device prompt reads "no device".

It seems as though my laptop doesn't recognize my phone. I use to have an iPhone 6 and this process was seamless.

When plugging in do you see an option to connect as "MTP" on your S6?
If you do tap to allow.

Also I'd update Picasa to Google photos the new app version may serve you better..
