Why does Lock Screen allow 1000 attempts?

[AC Question]

LG G4 with Norton Mobile. I noticed today that when I enter an invalid unload code I'm then allowed 999 out of 1000 attempts remaining. It used to be 9 out of 10!!! Sorry, I'm too chicken to enter it wrong the full 10 times to see what happens! Any thoughts?
