Galaxy Note 10.1, 2014. mediaserver is draining the battery fast.

For the last few days, mediaserver is draining the battery on standby in about 12 hours and took 78% of the battery last time I looked, a lot more than the screen. I can only save the battery by shutting down completely. The same problem has been reported elsewhere but no solutions. Corruption of the SD card was suggested, so I removed that, but I don't think it's made any difference.
