    I can only get a 2G network in areas were I am supposed to get a 3G or even 4G. would this be a software problem or just some settings I need to put. Thanks in anticipation

    There are many possible reasons.
    1. Confirm with your service provider that you are provided 3G or 4G networks in your cell phone plan.
    2. Make sure you enable the 3G/4G networks on your phone.
    Usually you can set the network options in Settings - Data usage - Mobile data (as shown in the pic below), or choose LTE or 4G in the Network Mode settings. I'm not sure about the brand and model of your device. If you can not find the settings it's possible that your phone is too old to support 4G.

    3. If everything is alright, including the settings and the cell phone plan, and you still can only get a 2G network, it might be because the areas are not covered with 3G and 4G networks yet.
