I have a hand symbol that shows up on the left

hand corner of my phone and have to tap it twice to do anything. How do I turn that off

Welcome to the forums. It looks like you activated TalkBack and you need to disable it in the accessibility settings. You need to scroll with two fingers instead of one to navigate through the menus and use a double tap to select the different options. Tell us how it goes.
