Does message plus cost money?

When I tried to answer a message it wouldn't let me unless I changed to message plus. Now I wonder if that is costing me money.

Sending a text message doesn't cost any money beyond what your carrier plan provides. If you are trying to use a third party messaging app with its own messaging service then yes, that could cost money. What phone do you have and do you have messenger? If so use that to send messages.
