They are potentially solved by giving full description of the device, android version, what was done to the device to get into that state and how it was operating prior to that.

Thank you, I replied to your first post. Download Smart Switch to your PC, run Emergency Hardware Recovery and follow the on screen instructions. You will need a USB cable to connect. Basically, your software has become corrupt

It passed but problem still exist.
    I'll try 5.1.1 now.

    5.1.1 installed. Have boot loop.
Seeing if I can get back to 6.0.1

OK, back on 6.0.1 with same /efs problem.
Maybe time to throw it away.
    Any suggestions?

No, don't throw it away. Take it to a repair shop. An Octopus box can fix this.

I might be able to buy another instead of repair.
    Octopus boxes are expensive.
I'll check out cost of repair.

The thing works. Makes and receives phone calls.
Wifi keeps turning off. That needs solved.
But, I need root and can not get it with this /efs problem.
I've tried Kingroot many, many times trying to unlock the phone.
    Simply will not work.

    Many thanks for you help.
