If it gives you an authentication error, it means that the password is incorrect.

Try signing into webmail for your email and see what happens. If webmail works, then check email settings on your phone.

Also, who is your email provider?

Welcome to Android Central! Can you clarify--did you do a full factory reset? If so, then after you went through the Setup Wizard, did you go through the usual process of adding your email account to the Email app? Is that where you're encountering the authentication error?
