Vista cannot access Nexus 7 2013 files

[AC Question]

Hi - I have Nexus 7 tablet 2nd Gen with Lollipop. All is up to date.
Previously my lappy and Nexus could communicate, but now Vista recognises my Nexus but cannot see any of the files ! It could be since Lollipop as before it worked perfectly.
My Samsung phone has KitKat and this still works perfectly with Vista.
Unfortunately my Vista Bluetooth hasn't worked in a long time, even after reinstall (twice) so it is really crucial that I be able to transfer folders easily via cable to and from tablet and laptop.
Please can anyone help me ?
Is there a straightforward solution ?
I am moderately technical but definitely not advanced level.

Yes you are quite right, sorry, it is indeed 6.0 Marshmallow that I have - Lollipop went fast lol !

I don't have any USB options in the shade but after unplugging USB and restarting Nexus it appeared
