Why is my galaxy note 2 no longer recognising a storage device via an otg cable?

My note 2 is failing to recognise a storage device plugged in via an otg connector

OTG cables are cheaply made. I own six of them and have taken apart several of them only to find broken solder joints on the pins. If you can, borrow another cable from someone to test your Note 2. Hopefully it's just a bad cable.

@nahoku is right. Even I have a Note 2 and my OTG stopped detecting Pendrive. I also initially thought that it's software issue. I bought a new OTG and it then got detected

The OTG cable might be at fault or maybe the Pendrive itself sometimes gets worn out and the connecting is not perfect. It's definitely either of the two. Try the Pendrive with the same OTG on your friends phone and see.
