    NFC is used for things like Android Pay (tap-to-pay) and Android Beam (where you bring two phones close to each other in order to "beam" a file from one device to the other.

    Not exactly true. NFC is a technology that can allow devices to communicate with each other. One of its applications is as a payment system. It can also be used for phone-to-phone exchanges and more.
