Is there an app that will limit new text notifications?

Some people like to text 3 words at a time which causes the phone to vibrate non-stop and makes me want to smash it with a hammer. Is there an app that will allow me to fix this? Essentially, I want all text notifications halted after the first notification is generated, then have them resume after I view the existing notification. Currently on Android 5.1 if that makes a difference

Welcome to the forums. I am not aware of any app that can do this. I think if the text app is open, you won't get a notification. You could keep the text app open, and screen on for as long as possible if you know a reply is going to be coming in.

Keeping the texting app open and viewing the current conversation will often turn off the notifications (see your app settings).

Three words per text -- it is not the phone that needs to be hit with a hammer.
