Duplicate folders in default music player

[AC Question]

So I tried adding music to various folders for the first time since the marshmallow update. Well I did my thing on the computer end adding all my songs to their respected folders (Bass songs, Chill, Mixes...). Ive done this the same way ever since. Well I go to look at the phone and I realize that now there are duplicate folders. one folder for example is "Bass". one folder will have all the old songs and then theres a new folder under the same name and file directory that has what I just added. If you look on the computers end and one the phones end through the file browser, it only shows 1 folder while the music app (default app) shows the duplicate. Tried restarting the phone and no joy.

any of you guys have any ideas how to get rid of the duplicates and get the songs in the original folders?

I thought only I got this problem. I am looking for the solution as well because its annoying to jump through folders all the time.
