removing security on Samsung S4

My husband upgraded his phone and gave me his S4 to unlock and bring to the UK with me. I unlocked it and then a new sim cad was put in here in the UK. Unfortunately he's left his security settings in place. If I put the wrong pattern in (he's not sure what it was) a pin number request appears. He can't remember the pin number! Is there any way to get the security settings changed? I don't mind it going back to factory reset as I haven't set up the phone yet. (Obviously because I can't get into it!)
Any suggestions?

You can have him log into Android Device Manager, to which hopefully he enabled, and change to a pin number, that you'll create. Other Samsungs "Find My Mobile" similar to ADM, there is no other way, other than factory reset.
