Why can't I listen to music through Bluetooth on my BMW X1?

I finally (had my nephew) put all of my music on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 so I could play it through Bluetooth on my 2015 BMW X1. However, I couldn't get it to play through the speakers. Im sync- can receive and make phone calls, no problem. When I went to the dealer, I was told there was a special cord, however it works only with apple devices.

In this age of technology, there must be a way to get my music to work with my current device...right?

In the car Bluetooth menu, look for the device in media/music setting. It's something you have to enable separately sometimes. And make sure your device "sees" the car as an external speaker or headphone.. I had to fiddle a bit in our BMW before it played music from my phone.
