Do adjacent android devices tend to import/export information w/o commands??

I have had an android phone (4.4.2 OS) for sometime, and recently I purchased a new android tablet (5.0.1 OS). A couple of days ago, I installed a media player app and some songs on to the tablet. Later on in the day, I noticed that the same media player app was showing up on my phone. Could I have "sync" something and not realized it, or do android devices automatically operate this way? Thanks.

If the tablet is synced to the phone, it may do that. Have a poke around in settings, most things in Android have to be "allowed" by you...
