After doing a factory reset how do I reactivate my phone

I did a factory reset on my Samsung S7 & Google wont recognise my email address keeps telling me to use a email address that was previously synced to this phone.

You need to use the email address that was used to set up the phone when it was new. Is it a used device?

I bought the phone new and am using the email address that was used to set up phone.

Does the device show up if you access your Google Account on a PC?

no it doesn't but I did receive an email saying my google account was accessed by my Samsung 7.

OK so the email you got above went to the same email address you used when you set up the phone? Sorry to ask dumb questions but this seems odd
