why won't google play let me download any apps

when I get on google play, I hit downlod and it says "Authentication is required. You need to sign into your google accunt." and I cant figure out what to do.

Assuming that you created a Gmail and assigned this Gmail to your device, You need to use your Google account email to login to your Google Play services.. Go to Google.com or Gmail.com login via your device and refresh your Google Play app.
