Why hasnt my Nexus 6p updated to Nougat?

My carrier is Verizon. My friend has the same phone just a different carrier but received the update already. Why hasn't my 6p updated?

They are not all done at the same time, even from the same carrier.

The 6p is not a Verizon device. The phone works on their network, but any and all updates will come from Google, not Verizon. Go to this Android Central article and enroll in the Android Beta Program. Once enrolled, follow the prompts to receive the OTA. Good luck and let us know the outcome.

If you do decide to go the beta route, don't forget to unenroll if you don't want to keep receiving the beta updates which may vary in stability.
