How do i transfer photos from Google Photo to Gallery on Samsung Galaxy Tab A

I have 3 Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 tablets that I am trying to set up for grandkids. I want to have their own individualized photos on each device. All 3 tablets are in my Gmail account. Google Photos syncs all 3 tablets even when I have sync unchecked in my Gmail. Is Gallery ( preloaded) synced to gmail and how do i transfer from Google Photos to Gallery. Is there another app with no ads that I can use on each tablet?

Gallery (and Photo) shows all the pictures it can display that a function called "media scanner" finds on the device. QuickPic will also work. (But, if I remember correctly [I don't keep photos on Google's servers], displaying photos that are saved in your Google account just displays them - they're still on Google's servers, not in your phone.)
