Is Sony SmartWatch 3 compatible with Samsung galaxy s6

Hi all, I need to replace my current phone and am considering the Samsung galaxy s6 but I currently use an android wear Sony SmartWatch 3. I have seen some forums mention pairing issues that I wasn't sure were solved and I am now left wondering if these were isolated incidents or if the two devices simply don't work properly together. Can anyone tell me if they are compatible or if I should select a different phone?
