Takes long time to charge, sometimes not charging at all

[AC Question]

First, wasn't charging at all so switched charger; same thing; then slow, slow charging sometimes not charging overnight. Last weekend the date and time jumped back to 2015 then I reset it. It's probably 4 years old. What's ailing my Samsung Galaxy S III? Von in S.F.

One possibility is a damaged USB port.

Welcome to Android Central! The first thing I'd try is a new or different battery. If you're using the original battery, it's probably starting to fail after this long.
