LG G4 - IMS not available msg and subsequent deleted contacts

Hi Everyone

I have had problems where my year old LG G4 has been having random attacks of doing what it wants - opening apps, typing text, scrolling etc.

This weekend I had the message of 'LG G4 IMS Not Available' continually appearing on screen, after which all my contacts have disappeared, and the phone now, when connected via USB to the computer, is recognised by the computer, but when clicking to view the contents of the phone, just shows as blank as it there is nothing there at all, no folders show, even though everything is still accessible on the device itself.

Any ideas? Will a factory reset help at all?
