my HTC ONE M8 vibrates but screen doesnt turn on

I can plug the htc one m8 into wall charger and the red LED charging light comes on but when I try to turn the phone on it will vibrate but nothing else. I have tried various options such as holding the power down for 1 minute, holding the power button +volume down +volume up button simultaneously and also just the power button and the volume down button. The phone vibrating is the only response I have gotten. I plug the phone into the USB port of laptop and the device driver had a problem. there was an error because it wouldn't boot or some error. However the laptop recognized that there was a device but there was just a problem with the device. Any other suggestions that I could try?
