    Samsung galaxy s5 is unresponsive.
    I performered a hard reset.
The phone will not reboot, nor will it allow me to do another hard reset.
When I try to turn it on, it usually turns back off before it gets to the home screen. If it does turn on, the screen will freeze and power off.
    The battery is charged.
Now it only makes it about half way through the boot up process before powering down.

A failing battery? A poor battery connection? A faulty power switch?

The sign of an almost totally dead battery. Even if you charge it for 24 hours, if it throws a dendrite (an internal chemical short) at 99%, it will turn off almost as soon as it turns on. I believe that Samsung still replaces the S5 battery for $60. (No, dendrites aren't covered under warranty.)
