Why is my keyboard capitalizing the first TWO letters after a period?

Over the past week, my keyboard has been acting weird whenever I end a sentence. It will capitalize the first TWO letters of the next sentence, which it then tries to auto-correct the entire word into caps. Here's an example:

Normal:
"Hi. The weather is beautiful."

What my phone is doing:
"Hi. THE weather is beautiful." It does this because THe becomes THE with auto-correct.

I don't really want to turn off auto-correct or auto-capitalization, but this is aggravating. It's a new behavior. I am currently on a Galaxy 4.

I get 1 capitalised letter on my TAB S2 and my S6 Edge works OK. Yes, it is a pain and I have no ideas how to correct it so I changed my keyboard
