How can I get my contacts off my broken Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phone?

My phone suddenly stopped working and the repair shop says the circuit board is broken. It seems that all my contacts were on my phone and not on my simcard Can anyone tell me if there is any way I can restore my contacts from my broken phone? It is too expensive to repair so I am planning on getting a new phone. I have put my simcard in another phone but none of my contacts are coming up so I presume they were only saved on my phone? Help!!!

If you backed up your data to your Google account, they should restore, if you didn't, they're gone

You don't want them as SIM, Phone or Device contacts, you want them as Google contacts (the top dropdown when you're entering a new vcontact), so they sync to the server, and you can get them back.
