Why was the USB Internet option removed from android lollipop and marshmallow version

Previously usb internet option was there in kitkat but now Why was the USB Internet option removed from android lollipop and marshmallow version

Most carriers don't allow you to use hotspots (which is what internet via the USB port is) unless you pay for a tethering account. To make sure that you don't, they can disable the function.
