how do I get rid of pop up ads on my phone

My friend told me to download a game that he said was good. I looked for it in Google play store but it was not there so I googled it and downloaded from there it downloaded into android download manager but it would never load then I started to get pop up ads on my lg g4 that would pop up at random time no matter what I'm doing on my phone and take up the whole screen. I've tried anti malware apps anti virus apps and nothing worked. Plz help me. I don't want to factory reset my Phone

That is one of the perils of downloading from sources other than the Play Store.

Do the problems persist in Safe Mode?

If you cannot remove the cause of the app in the normal ways, you may need to reflash the stock firmware.

Henceforth, do not necessarily trust what your friend says.

What do you mean by "reflash the stock firmware"?

I mean by that, to download the correct version of the Operating System afresh, which is necessary if malware has got intractably system-deep, as may be the case with your phone. It's done by downloading the phone manufacturer's recovery tool to a suitable PC or laptop, tethering the phone, and proceeding from there.
There are many guides online describing the process in detail.

I don't have a laptop or PC nor do I know any one that has one. Do you no of any other way

Alas not, but it may be worth trying a repairer or network provider.
