Why doesn't the brightness work on my phone? (LCD newly replaced)

So I kinda dropped my phone and messed the whole LCD up so I had it replaced. I just got it back and one thing I'm really bothered with is that even when I adjust the brightness controls/sliders the brightness doesn't go down. My battery is draining way faster than I want it to.
