Help with Android system recovery <3e>

I have an Alcatel One Touch Idol, with a broken touch pad. I´m trying to recover some files from the internal memory to the PC, but I'm very green on this stuff. Because the tuouch screen is broken, I can't open settings to enable USB debugging, and applications won't work without it, so instead I'm trying sysem recovery. So far I've managed to open the system recovery, but it doesn't show any backup option, only reboot, apply updates from X, wipe X, and Enable ADB. But when I enable it, my computer can't recognize the drive. So, could anyone explain, or better yet, point me to a detailed, step by step, kindergarden grade, guide for an absolute beginner on how to recover files to PC using Android system rec?
