How do I turn on sync on My Android tablet?

I accidentally turned of the sync on my Android Nextbook Ares 8. I did follow the directions on the Help on the tablet, but was not successful . The last instruction was " Open Chrome app and sign into chrome,." I thought I already had Chrome open and when I tried to find it I lost all I had done. I am a senior citizen and electronically challenged so need very definite and detailed instructions. Thank.
