My Galaxy S 6 has taken to saying that my device's trash is full so of I delete something it will be permanently deleted. How do I empty the trash?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you in the Email app? Is there a Trash folder in your email account that's full?

He must be in Gmail, they call it trash and it doesn't go away until you empty trash...
Open thrash folder and press "empty trash now"

But the Gmail app's Trash shouldn't be prompting the user to clear it -- that would imply that the Trash is actually taking up local storage, right? The Gmail app should just be syncing with the Gmail server when it comes to the Trash folder, not downloading everything locally.
