Why did I lose all my photos and music on my Galaxy S5 overnight?

All my photos were somehow deleted. All but one file of music was deleted.

Were these files on internal or external storage. If external your SD card may be dying and therefore corrupted what was on it. If its internal the same could happen but less likely.
