Why can't I drag and drop files onto my external sd card on the lg v20?

AC Question

I have just purchased an LG V20. the device is visible on my pc (w8.1) but I cannot drop audio files directly to my sd card or to the phone it's internal memory. I suspect that this functionality was deliberately removed to compel users to use their lg bridge software.

If the card is in the phone, only the app that created the folder can write to it. If you take it out of the phone and put into an adapter, you can plug it into the computer's USB port and copy any picture to any folder. (Windows can't see Linux's rules.) Windows can't copy files to a folder ... because Windows didn't create the folder. (If you understand Linux, you can change the folder's permissions to allow "everyone" to write to it, or you can change that in platform.xml permanently (give android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE <group_gid="media_rw" />), if the phone is rooted.
