Help! Got a new samsung phone. Lost photos

So here I am with a new phone prima due to losing my samsung. Thank God I had Google photos. But on the day I had amazing photos of my holiday snorkelling. I thought I lost the photos. I then discovered my sd card. I put it in and found them! I was so happy. A few hours later I didn't have much space. It asked me to reformat sd card and now nothing is on there!!! nothing... I have my Google photos but I need your help!!! In panicking. How can I turn it back or recover my data. I still have one week overseas to do holidays. Should I stop taking photos to recover it? What should I do.

Your card has been reformatted so you will need to use a pc and a data recovery program. Continuing to use the card means you are overwriting files making recovery of the overwritten files less likely
