S3 backup and reset issue

[AC Question]

I have backed up many Android devices and when my GF asked me to backup and restore her s3 I didn't think twice. I checked that Google was backing up everything. Clicked backup let it do its thing, then also checked and saw that it was backing up to a Samsung account (using a Hotmail id) and backed that up too.

Did a reset and now have nothing to restore. Only photos were saved...which if only one thing was saved it would be those. But all contacts and s planner items are missing.

Any thoughts? I checked Hotmail and Google accounts but calendar and contacts are empty.

Thought maybe since it was so old maybe they were backed up somewhere else?

Welcome to Android Central! If the contacts were only saved to the local Phone account, and not the Google or Samsung accounts, then they weren't backed up anywhere. That's why I always recommend against saving them in the local Phone account. The same goes for S Planner events -- if they were not saved to a Google or Samsung account calendar, then they weren't backed up.
