I've tried going into device manager from my s7 and changing the password but it won't let me. any options? I want to get into it without having to factory reset it. any info would be great help. thanks to any replies

Try Samsung's Find My Mobile site. I think you can even set up a new account if you don't have one. Then set a new Lock from there.

Have you tried the site and the FAQ section. I think you enter a serial number or something. Probably best seen on a full web browser.

No, you need to set it up on the device. Only solution is ADM i guess

Can you use a pc. It might explain better there. I will try on a pc later.

Did you have a Samsung account and used the same on your new model. I no longer have a Samsung model.

I didn't see Pugs post when writing.
Google's Android Device Manager you tried but you said you couldn't set a Lock? What happened.

Yes that happens to a lot of people with ADM. It always works on mine. Do you have a Samsung account you can Lock your S5 with. I am not able to talk you through it but there should be help available there.

Try Samsung account help. It probably already is enabled in Security Settings by default so you would just need to log in. I thought people were asking how to find a serial number to log in with a new account. Without a Samsung account on it that won't work.

If you changed your Google password recently it may take 24 - 72 hours for ADM to work.
Otherwise it's a factory reset if you didn't backup to Samsung Smart Switch, cloud or Google, plus you will still need your Google account after a factory reset.

If you log into Samsung Find My Mobile, on the top left of the screen your current device should be shown. Click the down arrow and it should show all devices registered to that account. Select the S5 and unlock from there
