Forgot backup PIN

AC Question

My grandson was playing with my phone and when I got it away from him it is stuck on a screen asking for my backup PIN. I don't remember even setting a backup PIN. I tried going through device manager to reset my PIN but it just tells me since a PIN was set, it will not set a new one. Is there any way to recover the backup? Or connect my phone to my computer so I can back everything up before I do a factory reset?

Welcome to Android Central! Does your phone have a fingerprint sensor, and do you use it? If so, you're required to create a backup PIN during the fingerprint setup. The backup PIN isn't just fingerprint sensor failure -- the phone typically asks you to enter it upon a cold boot, as well as certain other circumstances. There's no way to retrieve the PIN, because that wouldn't be a very effective security feature.

If you fail the unlock enough times, does it prompt you for your Google account info and password?
