Did you adopt it as internal storage, leave it external, or does anything at all happen when you put it in?

nothing happens....... phone acts like there IS no sdcard in the slot. I've tried various sizes 4gb 8gb..etc and different formats FAT..exFAT.. NTSF.. nothing.

On settings-storage & USB screen, it reads Android OS 3.46 GB Internal storage 3.97 GB used of 4.54 GB. NO external storage even listed (with a card installed)

    thanks.....

If you formatted the card outside the phone (like on a PC), check it on that device, because the card could be bad. Or the card port on the phone could be bad. But if you formatted it as internal storage on the phone, first format it as external storage (if the phone will format it). A card formatted as internal storage isn't logically a "card", it's just "storage", the same as internal storage - and it doesn't show as a separate device.

ok... the phone does not see ANYthing I put in the card slot. No extra storage shows up when inserted... internal OR external. I can't format (with the phone).. what doesn't exist to it. I've done read/writes to the various cards on my PC to make sure they work. I'm hoping the card slot is not bad..but that seems to be the only answer unless rooting and a diff OS (5.1 maybe),, would make a diff. I'm about ready to chuck it and go with an Iphone...

Rooting and a different OS (assuming that there's nothing wrong with the current one) won't change a thing.

I see the part is $13 from Amazon/ with tools. I guess its time to crack this thing open and see if I can still do electrical crap. (I built a Heathkit computer from a kit in 1983)....
