My phone gives a thermal warning

[AC Question]

I have an htc e9+ and a few seconds after switching on, it displays this message: giving me a "Thermal Warning: phone needs to cool down!" then switches off immediately after. In other instances the display is upside down whereas I have not activated auto-rotate.

Welcome to Android Central! Water damage can sometimes lead to false temperature readings, and might also explain the display issues. Is that possible in your case?
