why is my screen pitch black on my Coolpad Catalyst and how to fix it

when I unlock my phone my phone is pitch black but I can get into the notification setting at the top but nothing else why and how to fix it

Sounds like you lost your launcher. Are you rooted? Custom recovery? Do you have adb and USB debugging enabled? Need more info.
