Why won't my phone's pasword change

[AC Question]

I've used a long password on my Samsung J1 ace for a while, it is a very long password. Later on i decided then to change it. I went to the settings of course, settings-lock screen and notification. I typed in my password and it just said try again. I've tried and tried to change it nothing has helped.
