Samsung tablet 1.01 very old all of a sudden says "check" when I delete an email.

I see someone had a similar problem but that was back in 2013. I looked at the answers and none of them helped me. Why all of a sudden is this happening? I have checked out all the "voice" things and having the volume down doesn't make a difference. Any ideas? Oh, I tried to log in....gave up. Couldn't. Says both my email addresses are used but won't give me a new password which obviously I didn't write down. Very frustrating.
