SD Card not detected

I removed an SD card from my Samsung galaxy S4 Mini running android 4.4.2. I made the error of taking the back cover of and removing the battery without switching the phone off and taking the SD card out without un mounting it in settings.

I can now not remount the card into the phone.

With the card not inserted in the phone, under: 'SD card' in 'storage' the text: 'mount SD card (insert sd card)' is greyed out and cannot be pressed and this stays the same if a card is inserted

I tried using another card in the phone but this would not work either

I then tried using the original SD card with two different windows 10 computers but the card was not detected by either.

To try and get the PC to read the card I did the following:
Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization> Folder Options > View tab > Advanced settings, Show hidden files, folders, and drives

I then tried going into control panel, and in troubleshooting and pressing 'configure a device’ but still the computer wouldn't detect the SD card.*

I also tried factory resetting the phone which didn’t help

Can anyone help with this?!

Thanks

Unfortunately, the card may have been irreversibly corrupted or damaged. If a PC can't even read it, it might be very difficult to retrieve any data, apart from bringing it to a forensic data recovery specialist.
