Gear S2 compatibilty with budget Samsung J3 2016 which has 1.5GB ram

I am not a power user and my Smart Phones are generally budget offerings. So with that in mind and the fact that I had a Samsung Gear S2 for Christmas, will a New Samsung J3 (2016) 8GB with 1.5GB of ram (I believe they run Android 5.1?) work with the S2..has anyone any first hand experience of this?
