Verizon Galaxy S6 Working File Shredder (Shredded files still recoverable)

A

AC Question

Ever since I became aware of diskdigger i have been unable to find any app that truely shreds files specifically pictures. I have tried Andro Shredder and Secure Wipe which have always been my go to apps. I have tried both options wipe free space and shred files.

Every time diskdigger is able to recover the supposedly deleted files.

Its a shame because if i want to take pictures with my phone and shred them after copying them to my computer is impossible.

After extensive research and effort the only thing i can find that truly works is a factory reset through the boot-loader. Which no normal person should be expected to do to shred files past recovering.

Keep in mind this is the Verizon Model S6 (SM-G920V) running latest non-rooted build.

All apps mentioned are linked below.

I figured it out! This was my first post on these forums and I figured it out on my own because I didn't want to wait.

This is how i solved my problem. Open diskdigger > run a non-root scan > go through the recovered pictures and find the ones you wanted permanently erased > click on the three dots in the thumbnail > view the path of the recovered image > go into file manager and delete it > done!

Read on for the why:

Basically the S6 is deleting the pictures files correctly, but only the large original .jpg files. I had to figure out where diskdigger was finding these pictures again (there thumbs and cache). So if you truly want to delete stuff and have diskdigger and other recovery apps not be able to restore there are a couple of locations you have to delete as well. I cant provide full paths because I deleted them to solve my issue but here is a short list.

It was recovering:
.face files
.thumbnail
cached from gallery
other cache
Also make sure view hidden files is enabled in file manager

Run a wiping app such as those found in my original post for extra security and peace of mind.
