How can I play short videos sent to my email on my Galaxy 6?

My daughter is sending me short (10-20 seconds) videos of my toddler granddaughter. I receive them in gmail. They are easily viewed on my computer when I open it. On my phone the only option is "Photos". That does not work. Do I need to add some app to play them? My young tech savvy friends have been stymied. Help

When my daughter sends me short (10-20 seconds) videos of my toddler granddaughter (taken on her iPhone), the only option given me to open the video (an IMG movie) is Photos. I click that and nothing. I try downloading. Nothing. Do I need to download an app to play these little videos? On my computer they are simple to open with TWININ. Thanks.

VLC for Android should also play .img files. (You need some app to play them. Phones don't play movies, apps do.)
