Why Is my recent apps list not working?

[AC Question]

My phone is is a Note 3 stuck on the kitkat update because it's too old. Just recently if I try to go to the recent apps list there'll be a message saying android system has stopped working. Then the screen will revert back to the lock screen. I've already retried reseting the phone but it still has that issue. I would love some advice on this. Thank you!

The other time I read a similar Post..one of
the causes pointed out was this. Battery fails
to access the software. Better Update
the phone to more recent model

Welcome to Android Central! Does it say Android System has stopped working, or com.android.systemui has stopped working? It sounds kind of like this: http://forums.androidcentral.com/as...x-com-android-systemui-has-stopped-error.html
